This Lethal Frontkick Is A Candidate For Knockout Of The Year

2016 has been a great year for MMA knockouts. There was Yair Rodriguez’s devastating flying kick at UFC 197, a brutal flying knee from Diego Rivas at Fight Night 82, and a bunch more just from the month of April alone.

However, British fighter Sheldon Reid may have the best one of all thanks to this absolutely insane frontkick knockout in a Shinobi War 7 fight against Julio Calcina. After neither man was able to gain a significant edge in the first few minutes, Calcina delivered an accidental low blow which forced the ref to break his hold.

Just seconds after the reset, Reid found the opening he was looking for and unleashed one of the nastiest kicks you’ll ever see knocking Calcina out cold on the spot. Even the announcers couldn’t believe it, with one of them saying it was the “best ever knockout I’ve seen live.” How Calcina was even able to stand up afterwards is beyond me.

After his brilliant strike, Reid reacted accordingly by running around the octagon like a mad man and scaling the cage, but really, who can blame him? When you deliver one of the best knockouts of the year, you deserve to do a little gloating.
