Spurs Lose To Knicks, Popovich Benches Starters

If you’re a San Antonio fan, that headline sure scared you, huh? When you keep reading, though, you’ll figure out what I mean. Don’t worry; that’s just how a great attention-grabbing headline works, ya dingus!

Anyway, the Spurs lost to the Knicks last night 128-115, and if I look at my notes here, those are the most points allowed by the Spurs since 1997, when Tim Duncan was a rookie. So I’m sure everyone on the team was happy when they heard the news of their record breaking. Oh wait, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich actually benched all his starters with three minutes and a 10-point deficit.

Also, his comments after the game were pretty sassy. Reuters:

“If we score 115 points I expect to win the game,” San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. “Our defense was pathetic.”

ME-OW! He’s right though; it’s a big deal for your 29-4 (now 29-5) team to give up that many points to anyone. In one game, their points allowed went from 96.7 to 97.6. The fact that the Spurs got in the news for something other than winning confuses me and made me remember that Tony Parker cheated on Eva Longoria. How do you do that? As my creepy friend says about a beautiful lass, “I would eat a mile of her sh-t to see where it came from.”
