With Leather has learned that the winningest coach in men's D-I college basketball history abruptly resigned Monday night. While many expected this season to be Knight's last, his decision to resign with ten games remaining on the Red Raiders' schedule has shocked the shit out of pretty much everyone.
"He's ready," Pat Knight said during his weekly radio show. "He's tired."
[Texas Tech chancellor Kent] Hance said, "I think Bob is through with coaching. I think he got to the point where it wasn't fun for him. He thought about it Sunday all day and talked to his wife and decided 'This is something I want to do.'"
So he talked to his wife and said I'M GETTING THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. I'M LEAVING AND YOU GUYS WILL FUCKING RUN TIL YOU CAN'T EAT SUPPER! YOU'LL THINK LAST NIGHT WAS A FUCKING PICNIC! I HAD TO SIT AROUND FOR A FUCKIN' YEAR WITH AN EIGHT-AND-TEN [sic] RECORD IN THIS FUCKIN' LEAGUE! AND YOU WILL NOT PUT ME IN THAT POSITION AGAIN OR YOU WILL PAY FOR IT LIKE YOU'RE NEVER GONNA BELIEVE!
The General finishes with 902 wins and 3 national titles. See the real highlights of Knight's career after the jump.
