They Played Basketball This Weekend

The main focus of attention was to the NFL playoffs this weekend, but now that the Patriots lost, I need to look to another sport so that I don’t break down crying. That being said, I’ll be taking you through all the cool stuff that happened in the NBA this weekend. Click through the pages to find out which NBA player died this weekend! Just kidding, sorry to get your hopes up, but no one died.

This just in: Carmelo Anthony is still not traded. The New Jersey Nets, however are going to try and talk to him this week to see what the deal is and if there’s some chemistry there, or if they will just stay friends. In another HOWEVER, Anthony said he doesn’t want to talk to any other teams. Their little fights and stuff are cute. Regardless of the trade talk, Anthony’s Denver Nuggets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 127-99, but lost to the San Antonio Spurs 110-97.

Speaking of that Nuggets-Spurs game, there was a highlight (arguably a lowlight) that came out of the garbage time after the game was already decided. Tiago Splitter, who’s got a name straight out of some Street Fighter video game, tried to do a dunk when the Nuggets turned the ball over, and although he made the dunk, he landed on his ass. His expression resembles a seven-year-old boy being told there was no more ice cream in the house.

Dirt Nowitzki came back on Saturday!.. and then he got ejected for arguing about a foul. The Dallas Mavericks ended up losing to the Memphis Grizzlies 89-70 in a game that probably had no real good reasons to watch besides the return (and exit) of Dirk.

Blake Griffin dunked, and it was predictably awesome.

The plot thickens, however! At the end of the game, when it was decided the Clippers had no way of blowing this game in the fourth quarter (because there were six seconds left and it’s impossible to score nine points in that time), Lamar Odom got into it with Blake Griffin while someone else was shooting free throws. He must have made a joke about Khloe Kardashian or something. Surprisingly, Griffin, the technical “rookie,” walked away without talking shit while Odom kept jawing and staring him down. The whole video’s pretty interesting to watch, and you’ve got three minutes to spare. Also, the final score was 99-92, Clippers.
