Things Got Ugly In An Interview Between John Calipari And Dan Patrick

You’ll be shocked to hear this, but John Calipari, a man who always thinks the media is out to get him, a man who constantly plays the “woe is me” card, got into it with a member of the media Thursday morning. His latest issue was with Dan Patrick, who allegedly questioned the Kentucky coach about his playing rotation during the 2014-2015 season.

Calipari: “All 10 of them will eventually be in the NBA. Why would I be the one choosing you not to play? We won 38 straight games, how much did it hurt our team?”
Patrick: “Coach, all it was was a question. Would you have gone seven guys?”

Then it got personal. For those of you unaware, Patrick played basketball at the University of Eastern Kentucky.

Cue cheap shots…

Calipari: “We could bring up your playing ability. I could bring up a lot of good stuff.”
Patrick: “Coach?”
Calipari: (laughing)
Patrick: “Here’s what I’ll leave you with.”
Calipari: “Why do we got to leave?”
Patrick: “I got other legends, I got guys who won national championships to attend to.”
Calipari: “I don’t know very many people who could stand you, that if you called, they’d come on.”

Outside looking in, this might just be a lot of joking. But you can tell that Patrick wasn’t happy with the personal barb. Here’s the full interview.
