I turned on the 18-hole playoff for the U.S. Open not long after NBC took over coverage. Tiger Woods had a two-stroke lead on the back nine, and it looked like COITENS for Rocco Mediate. But over the span of about an hour, Tiger missed putts and fairways while Rocco sank three straight birdies on 13-15, the last of which came on a tough putt after Woods hit one of the most amazing bunker shots you'll see, well, probably ever. Mediate now holds a one-stroke lead on 16, and Tiger's super-long birdie attempt to tie stopped fucking MILLIMETERS short of the cup. Stop working and reading blogs, and go watch the final two holes.
In an even more shocking story, golf is actually interesting.
UPDATE: Tiger birdies 18 — again — to force it to sudden death. Holy crap.
UPDATE #2: Annnnnnnnd that was quick. It took Tiger all of one hole to take care of business. Rocco Mediate was but a clod of dirt against the glacier of Tiger's legacy. A very nice clod, though.
