What’s the perfect way to say goodbye to the Nassau Coliseum? For the New York Islanders, it involves talking to some of the fans that made the arena a home. This particular fan really drove that home by revealing that she not only conceived her son in the parking lot of Nassau Coliseum back in 1982, but she also went into labor during the Stanley Cup playoffs in the ’82-’83 season.
That’s the story she decided to tell on live television and that the folks behind the broadcast thought was a must see for the folks at home. They’re right, of course, because here I am writing about it and you’re probably reading it. We live in marvelous times, but nowhere near as marvelous as it has to be for that woman’s son.
