As noted in this morning's recap, Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate will face off today for an 18-hole playoff to determine this year's U.S. Open champion. It seemed like very little went right for Tiger yesterday, from his double-bogey on the first hole to a litany of would-be birdies that stopped short of the cup, all of it done while wincing through the knee pain that's haunting him in his first tourney since he underwent surgery. But at the end of the day, when it came down to a single putt — a 12-footer he needed to end the day with a share of the lead — Mr. Big Balls of course came through.
He truly is a warrior. A warrior… of the golf course. In the rough-and-tumble world of people who walk around manicured lawns all day, you simply can't get much tougher than Tiger Woods.
