UFC 173 Live Discussion – Tiny Men Fighting For a Big Gold Belt

Holy cow, I didn’t realize this card was the kick-off to another round of ZuffArmageddon! Next week we’ve got the first ever instance of double-UFC, but never mind that sh*t, there’s a title fight tonight! If you want to pour over the witty and incredibly accurate With Leather Staff Predictions before the fights begin, that would be a very wise decision. And hey, throw some of your picks in, too!

The action kicks off with the super-early prelims at 6:30 PM ET. I’m particularly interested in the Anthony Njokuani versus Vinc Pichel bout. Both dude a mostly strikers, so that should be a fun punch-kick fight.

The prelims move to Fox Sports 1 at 8:00 PM ET for four fun fights. Tony Ferguson versus Katsunori Kikuno is probably going to be at least three different kinds of bonkers, and Michael Chiesa taking on Francisco Trinaldo will hopefully be a fun grappling contest.

The main card is on pay-per-view, so don’t steal it, you jerks, starting at 10:00 PM ET! Lots of good fights on this portion of the card. Takeya Mizugaki going against Francisco Rivera to see who gets to inch closer to a bantamweight title shot will be neat. Robbie Lawler versus Jake Ellenberger is one of those fights that doesn’t seem possible to go to a decision. Plus there’s a light heavyweight title eliminator fight as Daniel Cormier puts his undefeated record on the line against the legendary Dan Henderson.

Then, of course, we come to the main event of the evening. A bantamweight title fight between the reigning, defending, 32-fight unbeaten streak having undisputed champion, Renan Barao, taking on the last hope for the Duane Ludwig-incarnation of Team Alpha Male, TJ Dillashaw.

Should be a great night of fights. Come join the With Leather family for some jokes and “OOOOHHH SNAAAAP”s and whatnot.
