How’s it going, fight fans? We’ve got a triple-shot of fights this weekend, including three titles on the line. Let’s take a look at who’s fighting when and how we can watch it.
FRIDAY
It’s always a good weekend when Invicta returns. The all-women’s MMA organization is putting on a showcase, available on UFC’s Fight Pass, starting at 8 p.m. ET. Shockingly, one of my favorite fighters, Mizuki Inoue, is kicking things off in strawweight action. The main event features another one of my fave fighters, Irene Aldana, taking on Jodie Esquibel, also at 115 pounds.
This should be a very good night of fights.
SATURDAY
World Series of Fighting lucked out a little bit with this event. They are running against a UFC pay per view, but one that’s a little lacking in perceived star power. WSOF 32 has two titles on the line, plus a very intriguing gimmick match up. Things kick off at 7 p.m. ET with online prelims, and the main card is at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports. Adopted brothers Caros Fodor and real life super hero Phoenix “Ben Fodor” Jones square off in a lightweight bout dreamed up by George Bluth. The top two fights are both rematches and have titles on the line. Featherweight champ Alexandre Almeida takes on Lance Palmer in the co-main event, while dominant bantamweight champ Marlon Moraes faces Josh Hill in the main event of the evening.
UFC 201 has seen some card changes, but there’s still a title fight in the main event, so that’s good. Prelims kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fight Pass. The regular prelims start at 8 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2, and feature a personal favorite, Nikita “The Miner” Krylov taking on Ed “Short Fuse” Herman at light heavyweight in the so-called People’s Main Event of the final prelim spot.
The main card is live at 10 p.m. ET and is only available on pay per view. The card starts with flyweight action as Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall takes on young prospect Justin “Tank” Scoggins. There’s a good welterweight scrap between Matt “The Immortal” Brown and Jake “The Juggernaut” Ellenberger. The co-main event is a strawweight bout between undefeated Karolina Kowalkiewicz and former title challenger “Thug” Rose Namajunas. The main event is a welterweight title fight between Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley and blood thirsty champ, “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler.
