Urban Meyer, who resigned as coach of the Florida Gators this past season to spend more time with his family, has already taken another job that he says won’t take time away from the family, but I’m pretty sure he’ll find a way to make it happen. It’s really looking more and more like he had no faith in the future of Florida’s program and wants to keep his coaching record respectable until a good job opportunity opens up. At least, that’s my theory.
Meyer, who won two BCS national championships at Florida, will make his debut Wednesday during ESPNU’s coverage of national signing day. He will work weekly regular-season games during the season, as well as provide studio analysis on ESPN’s “College Football Live” and “College GameDay. ”
“Football has played an extremely important role in my life for the past 25 years and ESPN has given me an incredible opportunity to join its world-class team and share my passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the game with fans across the country,” Meyer said.

When he resigned Dec. 8, the 46-year-old Meyer said he wanted to spend more time with his family. He insisted on a conference call his new job wouldn’t get in the way of that, with minimal commitment during the offseason and travel only over the weekend in-season. –ESPN.
Meyer’s right on the fact that being a college analyst isn’t that hard of a job, because anyone with a decent knowledge of any sport could be that sport’s analyst. It isn’t hard to make up stupid catchphrases, talk a lot with your hands even when you’re not on camera, and let people get angry at you on Twitter. The best part is that you get paid way too much for it, and people get angry when they find out how much and claim that they can do it. Whoops, I just started the cycle over again.
