Once upon a time there was a Head Coach at the University of Florida named Urban Meyer. He had a series of mysterious health problems, and one day retired. Except the very next day he un-retired and declared indefinite leave of absence.  Well, now it looks like that leave of absence isn’t happening either–in any capacity.

Following their 52-24 victory over Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl, Urban Meyer kind of slipped in an announcement that his plan was to coach the Gators–his wife by his side looking a little less than pleased. Now it’s back to business as usual, with Meyer’s assembly of a strong recruiting class, a beefed up assistant coaching staff, and plans to coach Spring practice.  So what’s the catch?

Meyer said athletic director Jeremy Foley and his wife, Shelley, want him to take some time off after signing day next month. He indicated he might step away between signing day and spring practice — something he hasn’t done the last five years in Gainesville — but added that he hasn’t made any definite plans.

“I’ve been instructed I have to. I’m just not sure what I’m going to do,” he said. “I just don’t know how long.”–ABC News

Talk about a control freak.  Is there rehab for this sort of thing?  I can think of countless things for him to do or not do with his time off.  How about a family ski vacation? Or blow an entire month’s salary in Vegas?  Maybe he could have sex with his wife, even.  You know, before someone else does because his only focus is coaching and she can’t forget about that one time he accidentally called her “Tim” while they were role playing.  Sheesh.  Why do women gotta bring up old ish?
