An ‘Embarrassed’ Vikings Quarterback Tried To Break Into His Own Home And Ended Up Requiring Surgery

From the NFL, we have yet another hard-to-comprehend offseason injury to add to the incredulous list. Training camp has just gotten underway for most teams, but third-string Minnesota Vikings QB Taylor Heinicke had to show up in a walking cast after failing spectacularly to break into his own house.

According to Heinicke, he came home to his Atlanta home a couple weeks ago after a late night showing of The Conjuring 2 — which he called “pretty good” — to find his house locked and no one home.

“I’m trying to nudge the door a little. It was one of those double doors. I thought it just needed a little nudge.

“Me and my buddy were getting it going a little, but when I put my foot to the door, my foot kind of slipped and it went through a window. It was just kind of a freak accident.”

The accident produced a cut on Heinicke’s foot severe enough to require surgery, and he’ll be out for what looks like the remainder of training camp. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer implied that there’s not much concern that second-year Heinicke will lose a roster spot over this, no sure thing with a third-string QB.

But just so we’re clear, we all know that Heinicke actually tried to Hulk out and kick the door down, right? What kind of locked double door only needs “a little nudge” to open? We’re not passing judgment, Taylor — just remember that the sweet spot is right above the handle next time and you won’t wind up in the hospital. Or better yet, call a locksmith!
