You’re likely familiar with Jonathan Koppenhaver, also known as War Machine, the former UFC fighter who allegedly beat his girlfriend, adult film actress Christy Mack. We’ve all seen the pictures, and they’re horrific. Filed under things you can’t “un-see.”
War Machine has been in jail since August 2014 awaiting trial. He has, on countless occasions, said he never intended to kill Mack or her friend Corey Thomas that night. In a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday, Koppenhaver’s lawyer tried to get the attempted murder charges thrown out. In addition, War Machine told the judge that he wanted to take a lie detector test.
Unsurprisingly, the judge wasn’t having it.
“I don’t care, okay? Considering all the arguments, I do find there is slightly marginal evidence to support these counts. I am denying the petition.”
War Machine faces 34 counts of assault, sexual assault and attempted murder. If convicted, he faces a possible life sentence without parole.
I can smell the axe body spray coming off his lawyer.
You know he got his law degree online.
Glad I am not the only one who thought he looks like a Frat guy during pledge week
Yo you guys better lay off Hep C Harold. Dudes a ballin lawyer, he got me off of my DUI last year. SIG CHI 4 LIFE!
The lawyer looks like Lil’ War Machine.
He’s totally going to play-by-play the Entourage movie for him during their next pre-trial conference.
His lawyer is a Costco Alum.
No such thing as a lie detector. It is a polygraph machine and it does not detect lies…just sayin’.
I’m not a lawyer, but aren’t “polygraph/lie detector” results considered inadmissible in every criminal court in the US due to lingering questions about the accuracy of the tests.
They are very subjective and it is up to the ability of the administrator to attain the information during the pre and post questioning portion of the examination. Without an admission, it is just another tool…and a flawed one at that.
And in this case, it looks like he wanted to use the lie detector to prove how he didn’t really want to kill the two people he viciously beat up. Hats off to the judge for not laughing in the guys face.
@ Long ball Larry Thank you for the clarification, I had thought the “results” were always dismissed in criminal cases.
@Drunk@Noon Goes to show the competency of the lawyer to think he could request a polygraph to prove intent. Obviously a stalling tactic on their part, but a bad one.
So you’re telling me everything I know about the Maury Povich show is a lie?
And they arent even like the ones on TV. I took one for a school admitance one time and all it was was fill out a questionnaire form, give it to the testing agent, sit down with a thing hooked on your hand, and then asked “Did you give any false information on this part of the questionnaire” repeatedly until he had gone through all portions of the questionnaire. I was super bummed out.
The person being tested is definitely not asked anything during the examination they have not discussed with the examiner prior to the test beginning. The person being tested knows every question coming and precisely how it will be phrased. Otherwise everyone would react to every question.
@beerguyrob You thought that everything portrayed on the Maury Povich shoe was the truth. The revelation the polygraph tests were not accurate determined THAT was a LIE!
@OnlyIMayDance + NOT the father!
I didn’t know Jean-Ralphio started a law firm

If it’s not stories about War Machine pulling out his ass hairs by hand then all stories about War Machine don’t matter.

Thats what he said.
