Lil Wayne’s “John” Video Featuring A Disabled Rick Ross

By | 18 Comments

Jesus H. Christ, I quit. Why in the holy hell is Ross seen in the "John" video standing at points and then sitting in a wheelchair for other parts? Is there a character portrayal going on that we, the audience, are unaware of? Too tired to stand after shooting this one and Ace's video on the same day.

On Lil Wayne, Tha Carter IV And Faux Libraries

2011 has already been a trying year for Hip-Hop, with controversy piled over top outrage surmounted by confusion, only to all overshadow the handful yet memorable pieces of music we laid claim to. Goodbye to the days where the musician created a celebrity. Hello to the fully visualized dawn where the more outrageous, bizarre or inconspicuously wack you are the better your chances are to skip a few steps and find yourself in a graduating class typically reserved for the talented. It's a clear cut sign of the times when even the truly talented, like our subject at hand Lil Wayne, allows himself to work with the machine opposed to fighting against it. He's undoubtedly proven himself the star; supreme victor of capturing the spotlight where most seasoned acts looked visibly unsure what to do in the Internet age. Yet and still for all his triumph through the power of overloading material and championing nonsensical babble, there remains a massive void in his torchbearing touch. Naturally, my hasty critical analysis is stemming just from glaring at Wayne's approved cover for Tha Carter IV. Yep, he pulled this wallet-sized gimmick last time out but it's bigger than just a couple chuckles at the silliness of it all.

Lil Wayne – “Show ‘Em What You Got”

The other day, "Lollipop" came on for the first time in about a year, so I set aside my biases and enjoyed the sucker single for what it was worth. With more mass appeal than the entire Gangstarr fanbase, Lil Wayne's first number one had many a footnote.

Lil Wayne Feat. Rick Ross – “If I Die Today”

By | 9 Comments

"If I die today, it'd be a holiday." Luckily, I love Ricky's "I'm Not A Star" because Wayne basically strong-armed Ross for it and revamped the tune, calling it "If I Die Today." Or it could be called "John" but I'm sure we'll find out if and when iTunes releases it.
