The New York Post Does Not Understand The Internet

We get that newspapers hate and fear the Internet, since the Internet is making newspapers extinct at a pretty good clip, but we remain baffled by their attempts to install paywalls. At least the New York Times, in its latest attempt, has been forced to allow people to visit their site via Facebook and Twitter without paying, showing at least a little understanding of the Internet.

The New York Post, we’re not sure if they understand how computers work.

In the saddest attempt yet to get people to pay for content, the New York Post has blocked their website from the iPad. Trying to go to their website gets you a little blurb saying “Pay two bucks for our app, and then give us seventy-five bucks a year to read what we give away for free online.”

It’s really up to you which you consider more pathetic: this shameless attempt to get iPad users to actually pay them money…or the fact that they failed to take into account that there are more web browsers on the iPad than just Safari.

Yep: use another browser on your iPad, and you’ll get into the Post website just fine. So, don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of stupid headlines in your future.
