Oh, Great: Predator Drones Get Viruses

Predator drones are designed to carry Stinger or Hellfire missiles. They’re hard to see, and their armament is supersonic, which means by the time you notice it, it’s already killed you.

And apparently nobody in the military thought to maybe load Norton on the freaking things, because there’s currently a virus running rampant at Creech Air Force Base, aka Predator Drone Command Central.

Fortunately, the virus itself seems fairly benign; it’s just a keylogger, and the military’s computer security demand is pretty sure that nothing classified’s been sent anywhere. But it’s persistent: they kill it and it keeps coming back.

How’d this happen? The usual way: someone misused one of the removable hard drives, got the virus on it, and viola — instant security problem. We’re so glad robots with missiles that we’ll never see coming can get viruses from some moron browsing a porn site on government property. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a bomb shelter to build.
