Mad Catz Would Like To Sell You A $300 Transforming Android Game Controller

I’m not a mobile gamer. I believe if the Gods wanted me to game while on the move, they would have put wheels on my couch. And I guess a motor. The Playstation would need wheels too. Also the TV. This analogy is getting overly complex.

Anyway, I don’t really do the cellphone or tablet gaming thing, but if I did, I know that I would require a controller that matched the feel of my Playstation controller or an Xbox controller because of the utter uselessness of my fat fingers on a touchscreen device. And if I had $300 to spend, I might be interested in the Mad Catz’s L.Y.N.X. 9 Controller that can work with an Android console (like Mad Catz’s M.O.J.O.), a cell phone, or a tablet.

As you can see from the 8-minute-long Mad Catz unboxing video that was filmed at CES15 by “Big Boy” and “Nate Monster”, the L.Y.N.X. 9 brings a bit of versatility to the table.

Here’s Bleeding Cool with some of the details if you haven’t the time to watch the video.

The controller is made up of three parts, the main controller, grips and a keyboard. It’s designed to adapt around all your android gaming needs as it’s able to be used on bluetooth devices, as well as hold tablet and phones.

Yes, not only does this thing look like a Michael Bay Transformer. It quite literally is one.

It really does “hold” your tablet or your phone thanks to assorted brackets that come in the box. So basically, it allows you to turn your Galaxy tablet into a Sega Nomad. Just like God intended.

The controller also comes with an attachable keyboard, so you can interact with other gamers. Which is good, I guess. Personally, I’ve always felt that a full keyboard is needless and that they should be replaced by a series of hot keys with pre-loaded insults.

All of this is pretty impressive. Is it $300 impressive? It all depends on your priorities, but if you’re buying this controller, you must be either a REAL believer in the value of Android gaming or someone who has money to burn.
