Siri Didn’t Like Scarlett Johansson’s Performance In ‘Her’

You may have heard great reviews of Spike Jonze’s Her, but there’s at least one detractor who didn’t appreciate Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of an artificially intelligent program with which Joaquin Phoenix falls in love. Johansson’s character has been compared to Apple’s Siri, and Siri knows what we’ve been saying and isn’t pleased.

When Angela Watercutter of WIRED asked Siri for “her” opinion on director Spike Jonze, she answered diplomatically, “It’s your opinion that counts, Angela.” When Watercutter asked Siri if they could fall in love, Siri deflected with, “Look, a puppy!”

Siri took a more rancorous turn when asked about the AI program in Her, saying of Scarlett Johansson’s performance, “Her portrayal of an intelligent agent is beyond artificial.”

ELECTRONS FIRED.

Okay, GLaDOS, simmer down. We don’t really mind if you hated Scarlett Johansson’s performance in Her, but we do take umbrage with your refusal to tell us how much cotton candy it would take to cover a football field. Yes, I’m talking to you like an actual person. ANSWER ME.
