Heroes like me have been standing up and telling everybody for years that “Entourage” sucks, but someone famous and charismatic like Seth Rogen does it, and suddenly it’s big news. Rogen was the target of several alleged “jokes” in Sunday’s episode of “Entourage” — specifically, his role in 2007′s Knocked Up (timely!) — that seem to stem from a feud Rogen has with series creator Doug Ellin. From Movieline:
“Yeah, those guys are a–holes. I actually ran into Matt…Kevin Dillon in a Starbucks. And he’s like ‘you know, I’ve got to kind of apologize because apparently the guy who created our show doesn’t like you so much.’ And I said ‘well I have reason to believe because I think [showrunner] Doug Ellin is a moron from all I can understand so it makes sense he doesn’t like me.’ And I’ve kind of said some disparaging things about the show. Although in our defense, [producer] Mark Wahlberg called us misogynistic in an interview, so I think they kind of started that…It’s on. Luckily I never have and never plan on watching Entourage.”
Apparently, Rogen pitched the idea for a show similar to “Entourage” that HBO passed on before settling on the inferior product.
In an older interview with E! Online, he said, “I just remember feeling really bitter. We thought the stuff we were writing was funny… and it just seemed crazy that no one else liked it. You start to question your own sanity. Like, ‘Our HBO pilot isn’t funny, but Entourage is?’” [Cinematical]
Ideally, this would change people’s opinions about “Entourage,” and big Hollywood stars would stop making cameos on the show because they realize it’s just an annoying unfunny circle jerk. Unfortunately for people with taste, there are few things big Hollywood stars enjoy more than a circle jerk.
