I don’t know a single person who hasn’t been traumatized by Sarah MacLachlan’s ASPCA commercial. As if the song “Angel” wasn’t horrible and overwrought and tedious enough, I now associate it with images of beaten animals. (If by some miracle you’ve never seen it, here it is. I just tried to watch it and somehow made it through 26 seconds.)
So that makes this Atom video — a fake PSA from MacLachlan apologizing for the ASPCA ad — as gratifying as it is overdue (even though it features a guy in a Dolphins jersey crying into a Terrible Towel — c’mon guys, have at least ONE sports fan on hand to make things look right). I mean, I still think I deserve monetary reparations from the ASPCA (or at least free corgis), but this is a good start.
