What’s on Tonight: ‘Lights Out’, TV Off

Lights Out (FX) — A couple people have told me that I need to be watching this, and I’ve got it saved on my DVR, but… I dunno. Every time I go to my saved shows on the DVR, I’m like, “Oh, I’m an episode behind on ‘Jersey Shore’.” I just can’t bring myself to get invested in a show that’s getting the same numbers as “Terriers.” Lesson to FX: if you make a show about a champion boxer in the 21st century, make him black. Or Russian, I guess. My suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

One Tree Hill (CW) — Finally, Brooke and Julian are getting married. Which one is “One Tree Hill” again? That had Chad Michael Murray, right? Is he still on the show? He was married to that exquisite chick, whatsherface. Don’t tell me. Brunette. Dammit, I’m gonna have to Google this. Ah, there we are: Sophia Bush.

Million Dollar Money Drop (Fox) — Season finale. Oh no. What ever shall I do until this slickly produced game show returns to the air.

Tombstone (AMC) — You know the only accolade Val Kilmer got for his role as Doc Holliday was an MTV Movie Award nomination? Criminal. For the record, the Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor that year were Tommy Lee Jones (who won for The Fugitive), Pete Postlethwaite (R.I.P., In the Name of the Father), John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire), Leonardo DiCaprio (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape), and Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List). Heady competition, sure, but with the benefit of hindsight I think Kilmer AT LEAST deserved a nod over Malkovich.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Jennifer Aniston and Nick Offerman (RON SWANSON) on Conan, Michael Steele on “The Daily Show,” The National play on Letterman, Helena Bonham Carter and Timothy Olyphant on Leno, DeSean Jackson on Lopez, and the delicious Sarah Shahi on Kimmel.
