Yay, ‘Glee’ Is Covering ‘Friday’

Really fantastic news, everybody. Seriously, put off suicide until after “Glee’s” prom episode, because the cast will be covering Rebecca Black’s lowbrow/genius “Friday.” From NY Mag’s Vulture:

The hot rumor of the hour is that Glee‘s prom episode will include a cover of Rebecca Black’s infamous YouTube hit “Friday,” and Vulture can confirm that and reveal an opposite-sex twist: The ode to fun, sitting in the backseat, fun, and fun will be sung by Kevin McHale, Chord Overstreet, and Mark Salling. (Though another rumor had returning guest star Jonathan Groff taking part, we hear he isn’t involved.)

Wouldn’t it be nice if the “Glee” cast was only allowed to cover songs that they could make better than the original? No more Queen or Lady Gaga or Bon Jovi or whatever — just Rebecca Black and Milli Vanilli and Limp Bizkit. That’s the nice thing about “Friday” — pretty much anybody who performs it or makes a spoof of it will do it at least as well as Rebecca Black. The song has zero sanctity. Kinda like your mom.
