Weekend Preview: ‘Game of Thrones’ Finale; ‘Falling Skies’ Premiere

Game of Thrones (HBO, Sunday) — Season 1 finale. For those who were shocked by last week’s episode, get ready for another big motha-F’n right turn from where you think the plot might be going. And now for your dose of “Game of Thrones”-inspired internet fun: “GoT” Dungeons and Dragons alignment chart; Tyrion and Bronn’s relationship re-cut to be a buddy comedy trailer (One and a Half Men); and Hitler learns about Ned Stark’s death.

Falling Skies (TNT, Sunday) — Series premiere. Early reviews are mostly positive, with my two favorite critics — Alan Sepinwall of HitFix and THR’s Tim Goodman — both approving of Steven Spielberg’s alien invasion series. My take: it’s got children with machine guns, so it has to be good. (Of course, that’s what I said about Africa, too.)

The Killing (AMC) — Season finale. I found out earlier this week that showrunner Veena Sud and her writing staff didn’t even have the killer figured out when they started writing this season. I was flabbergasted. This isn’t a drama where you say “Let’s see where the characters take us” — it’s a f**cking MURDER MYSTERY. Someone oughta get their head slammed in a car door for that.

Miss USA Pageant (NBC, Sunday) — Like Miss America, but sluttier. The godawful Billy Bush has been replaced as host by the merely annoying Andy Cohen and artificial humanoid Giuliana Rancic. I suppose that’s an improvement?

America’s Most Wanted (Fox, Saturday) — Series finale. After 24 seasons and over 1100 shows, “AMW” ends its regular run before returning as a couple of specials next fall.
