It’s a little weird that, out of all the stressors and responsibilities that come with being a member of a new team in charge of a television blog, the thing I am most nervous about is a weekly post of dog pictures. Like, by a lot. Corgi Friday has become such an institution around here that in my own weird little headspace it is the most important post of the week. Perhaps that’s because it was always Matt’s baby (most times I filled-in on a Friday he still had a corgi slideshow locked and loaded and ready for me to post), or perhaps it’s just the rabid support it has received from the readership. For whatever reason, more so than any editorial freedom or admin privileges on social media sites, being put in charge of this feels like I’ve been invited to sit at the big boy table.
For this week’s edition, I bring you some highlights from the 2011 Florida Corgi Picnic — which, for the record, looks DEEE-DAMN-LIGHTFUL. I’m still working on following like 800 corgi-specific Tumblrs and organizing pictures into various folders based on topic, so when I saw this on Buzzfeed yesterday, I was overjoyed. The main album for this American treasure of an afternoon has well over 400 pictures, so feel free to head over there after you’re done here and lose your whole friggin day. My gift to you.
