Here is a drawing I made of a jet-powered racecar. And here are some great TV-related reads for you to enjoy over lunch. Enjoy.
Matthew Weiner discusses the “Mad Men” season finale. I love reading interviews with Matthew Weiner because he refuses to give an answer that isn’t either obtuse, prickly, or needlessly vague. “Why did this thing happen on the show?” “Oh, that’s what you thought happened? Interesting. I don’t really want to talk about that, but you’re wrong.” Never change, Weiner. [The New York Times]
John Slattery talks all things Roger Sterling. I plan on spending most of this summer writing a “Mad Men” spec script where Roger gets a DUI and has to spend 100 hours doing volunteer work at a Manhattan youth center. That’s the whole episode. It’ll be like the episode where he hung out with Sally, but on steroids. Just mail the Emmy to my house.[Vulture]
“Veep” creator Armando Iannucci talks about the show’s first season. For all the piles and piles of press “Girls” got at the beginning of the season, “Veep” ended up being the more enjoyable watch for me. By a lot. The lesson here is that we should all probably take a deep breath sometimes and try to separate the hype from the actual content. Also, cussing is great and everyone should do it a lot. [GQ]
The Complete History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” was almost definitely my favorite cartoon about adolescent, pizza-loving reptiles who became masters of martial arts thanks equally to radioactive ooze and a giant talking rat. Top five at least. [Mental Floss]
