The Critics' Choice Awards Love 'Community,' 'Breaking Bad,' and Redheads

By / 06.19.12

The Critics’ Choice Awards were handed out last night, and HOLY CRAP THEY GOT IT RIGHT. Mostly. I mean, there’s stuff you can quibble about — “Modern Family” is overrepresented in the comedy category, for instance — but when you compare it to the Emmy Awards, where the likes of Jim Parsons (“Big Bang Theory”) and Barry Pepper (“The Kennedys”) won, it’s tough to complain. Foremost, the critics chose “Community” as the best comedy of the year (awesome, although “P&R” had a better season), “Breaking Bad” killed it in the dramatic acting categories, and “Homeland” took home best drama series. No, it’s not as good as “Breaking Bad,” but it’s far from a ridiculous choice. Also, what other organization would give Louis C.K. best actor in a comedy?

It’s a good roster of winners, and it’s dominated by redheads (Claire Danes, Christina Hendricks, Louis C.K., Julianne Moore, Benedict Cumberbatch, and “Homeland” also stars red-headed Damien Lewis) so ginger fetishists had a hell of a great night.
