Good God, Lemon: Tina Fey Will Make Fun Of NBC For Four More Years

By / 09.25.12

Another season of 30 Rock, this ain’t, but it could lead to the next 30 Rock. According to Variety:

The 30 Rock executive producer/star has signed a four-year overall deal with Universal Television that will keep her at the conglom hatching new TV shows in which she may choose to act.

The deal keeps Fey at the company where she’s been in various capacities since 1997, when she first broke through as both a writer and performer at Saturday Night Live.

“She’s been a cornerstone of the network for over the past 10 years and there was just no way we were going to let her get away,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. “It’s a measure of our esteem for her as a writer, actress and producer — she’s in a class by herself.” (Via)

Although the deal’s with NBCUniversal, that doesn’t necessarily mean Fey’s next show will be on NBC. Take, for instance, The Mindy Project, which recently became the first series to be developed by the Peacock’s production arm to air on other network, specifically Fox. (Michael Schur and Greg Daniels recently signed similar contracts.) The deal goes into effect “mid-2013,” making it unlikely Fey will have anything ready for next season, so she’ll have plenty of time to work on her burgeoning rap career. “In the spring of 2013, I plan to visit the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen/I wish more words rhymed with Lemon.”
