While the world anxiously waits for the much-needed, Fartin Scorsese-directed Big Momma’s House: Obesity On the Dance 4 — but not waiting too strenuously, for fear of The Gout acting up again — fans of the film series will have to settle for their dear “Charmaine Daisy Pierce,” as played by Brandon T. Jackson in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, getting her/his own TV show. Alas, not as a corpulent blob with Martin Lawrence as a mother/father/life coach (although…), but as Axel Foley’s son Aaron in CBS’ Beverly Hills Cop reboot.
CBS’ Beverly Hills Cop reboot has gotten another step closer to a formal greenlight, with actor-comedian Brandon T. Jackson closing a deal for the lead. The films’ star Eddie Murphy and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan executive produce the Sony TV-produced project, which already has a pilot production commitment. Its pilot order is considered a formality once the script written by Ryan is delivered.
I hear Murphy suggested Jackson. Murphy is said to be a fan of the young actor and his stand-up. (Murphy too came out of a stand-up background before taking on the Axel role). CBS was immediately on board as the network had already spotted Jackson, casting him in his only previous starring TV role — as the male lead opposite Minnie Driver in the 2011 pilot Hail Mary. Jackson is probably best known for his breakout part in the movie Tropic Thunder. (Via)
Um, that’s not how you spell Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, but yes, Jackson was also in Tropic Thunder, as the very funny Alpa “I Love Tha P*ssy” Chino, as well as Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and something called Cuttin’ da Mustard, which I’m guessing is about a black Jewish deli owner.
//stops checking after noticing the movie stars Sinbad
//watches Sinbrad say “awwwwwwwww snap” for three hours
Anyway, in summary:
Eddie Murphy is so pissed he didn’t think of that first.
