Even In Real Life, King Joffrey Deserves To Be Slapped

The picture above (compliments of Reddit) is of Jack Gleeson, who plays King Joffrey on Game of Thrones, attending the Trinity Ball in Dublin. It was submitted by the cute blonde there on the right. And here’s the thing: As much as I’d like to separate Jack Gleeson, the actor, from King Joffrey, the character, I can’t do it because I want to slap them both.

Sure, I want to feel a little sorry for Jack Gleeson because he’s just a kid, he has no future aspirations as an actor (in fact, he wants to pursue a Masters in Ancient Hebrew after Game of Thrones) and he’s even involved in puppet theater. When George R.R. Martin sends you a letter after the first week of filming that says, “Congratulations, everyone hates you!”, it’s hard not to feel a little pity for the guy.

But then I see the picture like the one above, where Jack Gleeson is King-of-the-Worlding it with a cigarette dangling from his lip and a smirk that says “I just f***ed your girlfriend” and I want to push his head in a toilet and give him a wedgie. He could be the nicest, sweetest guy on the planet — and maybe he is — but when he looks like that, man, he deserves to be punched. In the throat.
