Nobody Worry, Univision’s Spanish-Language ‘Breaking Bad’ Remake Is A Go

Over the weekend Josh informed you that Univision announced a new, Spanish-language remake of Breaking Bad titled Metástasis at their upfronts. This was notable because (a) it made me picture a telenovela version of the show where Skyler is a fiery busty woman who may or may not be faking amnesia after Walt caught her in bed with Julio, the handsome stable boy with dark brown eyes and mysterious past, and (b) Sony — the company that owns the show and presumably is not in the business of allowing foreign networks to develop remakes for free — hadn’t signed off it.

Well, everybody relax. (Except Julio. Señor Heisenberg is onto you, you scoundrel.) Univision and Sony have finalized the deal, and the show is set to begin filming in the near future.

“Critics and audiences love Breaking Bad and its original take on the drug dealing business,” said Angelica Guerra, Sony senior vp and managing director of production and Latin America and U.S. Hispanic. “It is a very relevant story for all audiences, produced with the highest standards, in spectacular locations with the best talent in the region.”

Si, puta.
