Everything sounds poignant when it’s subtitled from Swedish. “We will go where the sea takes us” could mean nothing or it could mean EVERYTHING, as could “The flipped monkey shouts out in annoyance at the great otter in the sky” or “It’s when the poor woman cries that the full weight of the laptop’s x-rays touch us in our toes.” Now, those two sentences don’t appear in any of the three black-and-white trailers for season nine of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which returns in September, but they could be something Charlie scrawls in his dream journal. What I’m saying is, Swedish is the Charlie Kelly of languages. Also, it kind of sounds like Dothraki.
