‘Happy Endings’ Is Really Dead This Time, Probably (And The Morning Links)

I know that after ABC had cancelled Happy Endings, many of us got our hopes up that USA Network would swoop in and save it. And after two weeks of negotiations, in which Deadline told us at one point that it looked good, and at another that it looked bad, and at yet another that it looked likely, they’re officially calling it: USA Network will not be picking up the series, mostly due to the show’s low ratings (which is to say, even if it attracted the same audience it did on ABC, it wouldn’t be a hit for USA Network). So, it’s officially dead … except that Sony TV may still shop it around to other outlets, like TBS (where it would be perfectly paired with Cougar Town) or even Netflix which, to be honest, would not be a good home for the series. Back to back episodes on Friday were a little too dense, so I doubt it would play well if it were released in its entirety all at once.
