Weekend Preview: ‘True Blood’ Replaces ‘Game Of Thrones’

True Blood (HBO, 9 p.m.) — Season premiere. Game of Thrones has nudity. True Blood has nudity. If you only squint at the boobs and butts, they’re basically the same show. OK, not really, not at all, but hey, how about that Bill being evil and all…That headline’s becoming more depressing by the second.

Magic City (Friday; Starz, 9 p.m.) — Season premiere. Magic City is a very pretty show and by the end of season one, the plot actually began to move along to. Might be worth checking in on.

2013 Miss USA Competition (Sunday; NBC, 9 p.m.) — GO MISS OKLAHOMA. (Makenzie Muse is a great name.)

The Killing (Sunday; AMC, 9 p.m.) — The Killing‘s rebounded nicely this season, but it still should have taken this weekend off, in honor of Game of Thrones. It’s what we’re going to be thinking about anyway.

Nurse Jackie/The Borgias (Sunday; Showtime, 9/10 p.m.) — Season finales. OK.

Mad Men (Sunday; AMC, 10 p.m.) — “Don takes a day off” in an episode entitled “The Quality of Mercy.” Now, that’s either a reference to a William Shakespeare poem or Babylon 5 episode. “Don takes a day off…in space.”

Veep (Sunday; HBO, 10 p.m.) — “Despite being told to limit public appearances, Selina continues her plans.” Replace “Selina” with the name of any sex offender, and Veep becomes a very different show.
