Sort of lost in the justifiable commotion over that exceedingly dumb “N-word vs. cracker” thing CNN did last night was Levar Burton’s chilling description of the lengths he goes to to avoid any confrontation with police whenever he gets pulled over.
“When I get stopped by the police, I take my hat off and my sunglasses off, I put them on the passenger’s side, I roll down my window, I take my hands, I stick them outside the window and on the door of the driver’s side because I want that officer to be relaxed as possible when he approaches my vehicle,” Burton said. “And I do that because I live in America.”
Look, if Geordi from Star Trek is this terrified of the police, then anyone with even a mild sun tan best beware of playing their music too loud. Geez.
