VIDEO: ‘Parks & Recreation’ Recut As A Horror Film With Leslie As The Killer

When I first saw that NBC had made their own recut Parks & Recreation trailer that made the show look like a horror film where Leslie Knope is a dangerous sociopath, my gut reaction was to hate it because most corporate attempts at viral marketing make me incredibly queasy. But then I actually sat down and watched it, and hey, guess what: it’s pretty good. I’m sure part of that is because showrunner Mike Schur and company have created a delightful little universe inhabited by some of the funniest and most enjoyable characters on television and I’ll take any little crumbs of it that NBC is willing to parcel out between now and the September 26 premiere, which I suppose makes me a little biased. But even with that admitted bias, this is pretty well-done, and funny, and it features Amy Poehler acting like a complete crazy person, so it’s definitely worth the 90 seconds it takes to watch it.

Could it have used a brief into from Perd Hapley where he looked into the camera and said something like, “This is a recut, which means it has been CUT … a second time”? Eh, maybe. I’m still toying with that. I’ll sleep on it and get back to you.
