The Most Tweeted-About TV Episode Ever Shockingly Has Nothing To Do With A Red Wedding

For as much as it seems like Twitter blabs endlessly about Game of Thrones mass murders and Breaking Bad explosions and Arrested Development chicken dances, those tweets are merely 68% pure compared to the 99% of coverage ABC Family receives online. For you see, the people who watch ABC Family are teens (especially now that the adults have fled after R.I.P. Bunheads was cruelly canned), and teens have nothing better to do than tweet endlessly about OMG DID U SEE WHAT SANTANHA DID ON #PLL WAT A BITCH. Unlike us grownups, who OMG DID YOU SEE WHAT SKYLER DID ON #BB WHAT A BITCH. We spell “WHAT” correctly.

Anyway, on Tuesday, a Twitter record was set: the “most tweeted series telecast in TV history.” Ask your sister.

To put that into perspective, the Red Wedding got 367,000 mentions on Twitter, while “there were more than 604,000 tweets about Sharknado from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. on [the Thursday it aired].” So, Pretty Little Liars is more than three times as popular as Sharknado proving yet again, tween girls are more dangerous than shark tornadoes.
