Another Day, Another Masterful CNN Takedown By The ‘Daily Show’

Unless you’ve been hiding under a pillow since watching Sunday night’s Breaking Bad, you’ve probably heard about the mass shooting at the DC Navy Yard that killed a dozen people on Monday. And if you tuned into cable news as that whole tragic thing was unfolding, well, you shouldn’t have, as by now now you should know that this is a bad idea as live TV chaos, confusion and misinformation tend to rule the day in those situations. You’d think by now that the CNNs of the world would handle breaking news a little better. Sadly, that’s not the case. Cue the inevitable Daily Show shaming.

“For sheer accumulation of breathless wrongness, there’s only one place that matters,” Jon Stewart yelled at one CNN correspondent in a segment titled “Wrongnado.” “Those aren’t interesting developments. You’re just standing in front of a camera naming sh*t you see,” Stewart said. “It’s like walking down the street with a 5-year-old. ‘Police car. Fire hydrant.'” He added, “The lesson they take from this is, it doesn’t matter how much they betray our trust, we’ll keep coming back. We’re in an abusive relationship with CNN.”

Stewart then dispatched his team of correspondents — John Oliver, Jason Jones, Samantha Bee, and Aasif Mandvi — to the CNN building in Manhattan to “report” on what they saw. Hilarity then ensued.
