Dierks Bentley’s ‘Pearl Jam Week’ Cover Of ‘Alive’ Was Absolutely Terrible

Well, they can’t all be winners. Just ask anyone who’s suffered through Binaural.

After back-to-back strong performances to kick off Pearl Jam Week, courtesy of Chris Cornell with the Avett Brothers and Robin Pecknold, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon played host to a dud last night. The Roots and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready were great, obviously, but fictional porn star Dierks Bentley probably should have picked a song other than the one the band is best known for, “Alive.” He’s seemingly unable to let loose and roar the way Eddie Vedder does, making the song sound far more monotonous than I thought possible.

We need you now more than ever, Kenny Powers.
