The Sunniest Moments From ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’: ‘Flowers For Charlie’

As we’ve noted many, many times, last night was the Game of Thrones episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (i.e. written by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss). As Glenn Howerton noted on Twitter yesterday, it’s the first time anyone outside of the real life Gang has pulled off such a feat. And man did they pull it off.

Charlie Day utilization? Check. Pop culture nostalgia usage? Check. Juxtaposing The Gang to a contributing segment of society? Check. Perfectly executed misdirection? Double check.

FXX even worked in the Archer “Danger Zone” promo. Just a banner evening for the show and the new network. “Flowers for Charlie” is currently neck in neck with “The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award” for best of Season 9 thus far. Let’s relive the Sunniest moments…

Showing initiative — not comparing yourself to John McLane — is how to standout when applying for scientific experimentation, folks. Even Dumb Charlie knows this.

And thanks to a genius pill and a Burn Gorman guest appearance, the Pacific Rim prequel begins.

But first, there is cheese to attend to.

Let the brain learning begin!

And thanks to Chicago setting wthe rat-bashing mood we’re reminded that, “I know we’ve never said this as a group, but Mac’s gay.”

Charlie learns Mandarin in twenty-four hours and even The Waitress doesn’t get a free pass to his new-found intellectual superiority.

This isn’t like the animated fantasy. AT ALL. FingerFantasyFingerFantasyFingerFantasy.

Meanwhile, the rest of The Gang is getting dumber without Charlie around. But at least it’s fun.

“Deandra, are you holding onto the trap?”

Moment of truth time.

Of course it was a Placebo. I don’t know if I’m more appreciative of the misdirection or “Nine plus nine equals box.”

Those stupid science b*tches couldn’t even make Charlie more smarter. Stupid science b*tches.

Cue the Police Academy music. All is as it should be. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are the best.

The end.
