Oliver Stone is a violent man. His films are filled with brutal murders (Natural Born Killers, Platoon), and make you want to murder someone, specifically Oliver Stone, after watching them (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps). He likely thinks of himself as a connoisseur of bloodshed the way others do wine, which is why he recently complained about the “fantasy violence” in the “ridiculous” final episode of Breaking Bad, finally answering the question of, “What do Oliver Stone and Britney Spears have in common, besides both appearing in disaster films?”
“I happen to not watch the series very much, but I happened to tune in and I saw the most ridiculous 15 minutes of a movie — it would be laughed off the screen,” [Stone] said while promoting his Showtime documentary series The Untold History of the United States.
Said Stone, on the show’s bullet-ridden “fantasy violence”: “Nobody could park his car right then and there and could have a machine gun that could go off perfectly and kill all of the bad guys! It would be a joke. It’s only in the movies that you find this kind of fantasy violence. And that’s infected the American culture; you young people believe all of this sh*t! Batman and Superman, you’ve lost your minds, and you don’t even know it! At least respect violence. I’m not saying don’t show violence, but show it with authenticity.” (Via)
I’m 97% sure Oliver Stone thinks the “young people” of today are named Batman and Superman. Anyway, Stone came to this conclusion after only watching the final 15 minutes of a show that ran for five seasons, therefore making his arguments invalid. Especially because he only tuned in to see Low Winter Sun.
