Weekend Preview: ‘The Walking Dead’ Walks Away, ‘Treme’ Comes Marching In

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) – Midseason finale. Please consider this your periodic reminder that “midseason finale” is a ridiculous term. Midseason means middle. Finale means end. I know I’m losing this battle in spectacular fashion, but I want my objection noted. (Important death-related analysis here.)

Treme (HBO, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) – Season premiere. Treme is back for a fourth and final season on Sunday. Fun fact: Every person who makes a joke about this show — even in private — receives a handwritten 10-page letter from a furious David Simon.

Comedy Bang Bang/The Birthday Boys (IFC, 10-11:00 p.m.) – Take these two shows, stuff them in a box with Comedy Central’s Nathan for You and Key & Peele, and then put a red bow on the box. That is what I want for Christmas.

Homeland/Masters of Sex (Showtime, Sunday 9-11:00 p.m.) – This week’s Homeland description, via TV Guide: “Brody embarks on a high-stakes mission, but his fragile condition threatens the operation. Meanwhile, Quinn makes an uncomfortable discovery about Carrie; and Fara is forced to rejoin the team due to a sudden crisis.” I assume that’s important. I wouldn’t know, because I have been letting Homeland pile up in my DVR in favor of…

The Good Wife (CBS, 9:00 p.m.) – The Good Wife has been really good this season. You should watch The Good Wife. Why aren’t you watching The Good Wife? (NOTE: On last week’s episode there was a case about a fake Reddit called “Scabbit” that awarded “Pimp Points” instead of Karma. I wanted you to know that.)

Steven Seagal Marathon (AMC, Saturday 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m.) – AMC is running 13 straight hours of Steven Seagal movies, then following it up with a midnight showing of O Brother, Where Art Thou? Stay weird, AMC.
