Weekend Update: That Sitcom You Love But Totally Forgot About Comes Back Tonight

Raising Hope (Fox, Friday 9 p.m.) — FOURTH SEASON PREMIERE. The fantastic Raising Hopeloved by its viewers, ignored by critics — returns tonight, and we’ll see how it does without its showrunner, Greg Garcia, who is running The Millers on CBS now. The Millers, by the by, may be the worst sitcom with the best cast in all of sitcom history.

Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday 11:30) — Lady Gaga is host and musical guest. I don’t really know what to say about this, except that Lady Gaga makes me both very uncomfortable and slightly aroused, which people tell me is the desired effect.

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — The Governor is back, and from what David Morrissey suggests, he may stick around a good long while.

Boardwalk Empire (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — It’s a close call between The Good Wife and Boardwalk Empire for the best show of the fall, so far, but I give the slight edge to Boardwalk, which airs its penultimate episode of the season on Sunday. Will Chalky survive the season? I DON’T KNOW.

Homeland (Showtime, Sunday 9 p.m.) — How is it that there are only two episodes left of Boardwalk and FIVE left of Homeland? FIVE MORE. You’re killing me, Showtime.

Bones (Fox, Friday 9 p.m.) — PROGRAMMING ALERT. Fox has moved Bones from Monday night to Friday night to make room for ..

Almost Human (Fox, Sunday 8 p.m.) — … the new J.J. Abrams sci-fi show with Karl Urban and Michael Ealy, which premieres on Sunday night before landing in the time slot vacated by Bones on Mondays. I’ve read a couple of reviews of Almost Human, and they’re promising, but preempting Bob’s Burgers is not going to gain you a lot of goodwill.
