Sherlock (PBS, Sunday 9:58 p.m.) — If you haven’t watched the third season premiere via unethical means, and you’ve managed to make it this long without being spoiled as I have, congratulations. I hope the season premiere lives up to all our expectations.
True Detective (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — The second episode has a week of buzz behind it, and no Golden Globes competition, so expect even better ratings numbers. Don’t expect it to quash the theory you already have about the killer’s identity, however. Also, if you’re a fan of Alexandra Daddario, you’re going to enjoy this episode.
Looking (HBO, Sunday 10:30) — SERIES PREMIERE. Another new HBO series is set to debut this Sunday. Looking seems like it’s the gay male version of Girls set in San Francisco. Reviews have been fairly positive so far.
Shameless (Showtimes, Sunday 9 p.m.) — If you’re not watching Shameless, you missed a disgustingly touching sequence of events last week, when Frank taught his son about masturbation right after his son delivered beer into his Dad’s anus. God, I love Shameless.
Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday 11:30 p.m.) — Drake will be host and musical guest on this week’s winter premiere. Can he be the next Justin Timberlake double threat? No. Watch the promos.
Enlisted (Fox, Friday 9:30 p.m.) — If you missed last week’s debut episode (and the dismal ratings suggest you did), circle back around and catch it on VOD, and then check out tonight’s episode. Then tell all your friends. It’s really, really good, and it deserves a much better fate than the Friday-night graveyard. A better timeslot, and Enlisted could stick around for years. In this slot, it probably doesn’t get a second season.
Patton Oswalt’s Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time (Epix, Friday 10 p.m.) — Epix committed a major blunder in trying to get the stand-up special loaded online last night (which pissed off Patton Oswalt), but expect the network airing to have fewer technical blunders.
Hitrecord TV (Pivot, Saturday 10 p.m.) — Don’t miss the premiere of Joseph Gordon Levitt’s collaborative series, which is the culmination of several years of work. If you like it, then maybe you will contribute, then you can be as famous as JGL. (No, you can’t.)
AFC Championship Game (CBS, Sunday 3 p.m.) — New England at Denver. Hey, did you hear that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were facing off this Sunday? Because I don’t think it gets talked about enough.
NFC Championship (Fox, Sunday 6:30 p.m.) — San Francisco vs. Seattle. As always, The Onion captures the sentiment of this game best: “Seahawks To Seattle Fans: ‘Shut The F*ck Up’
