We have no news on when George R.R. Martin will release the next installment of his A Song of Ice and Fire series, Winds of Winter, but you can read a paragraph from the book, which is consolation so small it shouldn’t even count as consolation. Still, it’s something, right? (TINY SPOILERS BELOW)
For those who haven’t read the books, and are concerned about the immediate fate of Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister, worry not. He at least makes it to Winds of Winter.
Here’s the paragraph, via EW:
Somewhere off in the far distance, a dying man was screaming for his mother. “To horse!” a man was yelling in Ghiscari, in the next camp to the north of the Second Sons. “To horse! To horse!” High and shrill, his voice carried a long way in the morning air, far beyond his own encampment. Tyrion knew just enough Ghiscari to understand the words, but the fear in his voice would have been plain in any tongue. I know how he feels.
The paragraph actually comes from an entire chapter in Winds of Winter devoted to Tyrion that will be released as part of an updated to Random House’s A Song of Ice and Fire app next month. The fact that Tyrion is still alive also confirms for non-book readers that he will not be leaving Game of Thrones to do that other HBO series, Beasts of Valhalla.
