True Detective (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Most of your other regular programming may have abandoned you during the Olympics, but Rust Cohle is still around. And just in time for Valentine’s Day, here’s Rust Cohle’s “Hey Girl” tumblr.
48 Hours Presents: The Whole Gritty City (CBS, Saturday 9 p.m.) — This documentary on inner city New Orleans youth marching bands is a Kickstarter success story and — according to Cajun Boy, who saw the film at its premiere and was an early Kickstarter supporter of the film — is a powerful, moving film. NPR’s Fresh Air also praised it. Watch its trailer here.
The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — I hope that The Walking Dead takes the second position on your DVRs behind True Detective by now, and more than that, I hope that this week’s episode is not CORAL GRIMES focussed. He needs to spend a couple of weeks digesting that pudding.
Shameless (Showtimes, Sunday 9 p.m.) — We don’t spend as much time talking about Shameless as we should, but it’s probably the show on television with which I have the most personal connection. Last week took a turn toward the devastating, but good news! They’ve lined up Jeffrey Dean Morgan for the finale.
Girls (HBO, Sunday 10 p.m.) — As a staunch defender of this show for two seasons, I’m slipping quickly into the “UGH” camp. Broad City or GTFO.
Downton Abbey (PBS, Sunday 9 p.m.) — I was in the UGH camp on this series halfway through the second season.
Winter Olympics (NBC, Forever) — If you turn on NBC during primetime this weekend, there’s probably a good chance you’ll see people doing things in the snow. After shoveling a foot of snow covered in a sheet of ice this morning, I think I’ll pass.
