Lena Dunham is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend. The good news is, SNL is coming off the its worst show of the season (and maybe many, many seasons), so it can’t get any worse, right? The bad news is, if it’s bad — unlike Jim Parsons — Lena Dunham will probably get the blame. Why? Because people like to blame bad things on Lena Dunham, and the way things are going without Seth Meyers in the writers’ room, there may end up being a lot of bad to blame her for. On the flipside, if the show is good, the segment of the population that already loathes her will undoubtedly give all the credit to the writers and cast instead of Dunham. She’s kind of damned, either way.
Plus, Saturday is when the clocks are moved forward an hour, and I’m sure Dunham will also be blamed for the hour of sleep we lose when everyone knows it’s Obama’s fault.
