Kate Mulgrew, she of Star Trek: Voyager, Orange Is the New Black, and NTSF:SD:SUV fame, has some interesting opinions about space. She’s the narrator of a new documentary, The Principle, directed by proud anti-Semite Robert Sungenis, that supports the ridiculous (OR IS IT?) (it is) theory that the Sun revolves around the Earth the way nerds do William Shatner’s house. It’s thought-provoking stuff:
“Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong,” says actress Kate Mulgrew. The film [also] features several scientists, including Michio Kaku, Lawrence Krauss, and Max Tegmart.
In the trailer, the scientists discuss how the Earth’s unique characteristics make it well-suited for life, in comparison to other planets. But Sungenis himself offers the only real bombshell.
“You can go on some websites of NASA to see that they’ve started to take down stuff that might hint to a geocentric universe,” Sungenis says.
About one in four Americans believe in geocentrism, which places the Earth at the center of the universe and the sun, planets, and stars revolving around it. (Via)
It’s possible, though unlikely, that Mulgrew doesn’t subscribe to what she’s saying, and she only took the gig to make some quick cash before going back to chasing prison chickens (those Throw Momma from the Train residual checks stopped coming a LONG time ago). But either way, The Principle is the least encouraging project to feature a Star Trek actor since all of Star Trek: Enterprise.
