USA Just Ordered A Show Called ‘Mr. Robot.’ ‘Mr. Robot’ Sounds Ridiculous.

Hello. USA Network just ordered a show called Mr. Robot. THE SHOW IS CALLED MR. ROBOT. From Deadline:

Mr. Robot centers on a young programmer, Elliot, who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He wields his skills as a weapon to protect the people that he cares about and finds himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America.

So, three things:

1) Deadline’s tweet about this story read “USA Network Orders Hacking Drama Pilot ‘Mr. Robot'” followed by the link, which I clicked on as fast as anyone has ever clicked on anything because I assumed, understandably, based on the wording, that USA had just ordered a show about an actual robot named “Mr. Robot” that is an expert hacker. I was picturing Johnny Five from Short Circuit crossed with Chloe from 24. HE WOULD HAVE SUCH A SASSY ATTITUDE. But, alas, it turned out to be just a show about an awkward nerd on some Snowden/Barb Wire stuff. I’m devastated.

2) The part where it says “he can only connect to people by hacking them” kind of makes it sounds like he’s hacking into people’s brains, yes? I assume they mean he is hacking into their lives via their social media accounts and bank records and such, but I … I really don’t want a young programmer with “a debilitating anti-social disorder” to hack into my brain. For ANY reason. No thank you to that.

3) There’s a 100% chance I watch this stupid show if it makes it to air. I mean, MR. ROBOT!
