Weekend TV Preview: More ‘Simpsons,’ Puppies And A Jay Leno Car Special

The Simpsons (FXX, all the time) — There’s not a lot going on this weekend, so might as well catch some of The Simpsons later years of arguable quality. Season 19 kicks off at 8 p.m. Friday night with “He Loves to Fly and He D’ohs” through season 23 late Sunday into Monday. (Full schedule here.)

Too Cute (Animal Plant, Saturday 8 p.m.) — And since there’s not a lot going on this weekend, might as well enjoy back-to-back episodes featuring German Shepherd puppies and English Mastiffs.

Doctor Who (BBC America, Saturday 8 p.m.) — Confession time: I’ve never seen a single episode of Doctor Who in my life, and I kind of want to keep it that way to piss off my nerd friends. But according to TV Guide: “A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and the Doctor is the only one who can help.”

The Strain (FX, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Episode 8 is called “Creatures of the Night” and from the sound of that, I fully plan to be watching it between my fingers.

Jay Leno’s Garage: The Ultimate Car Week (CNBC, Sunday 10 p.m.) Bad news, there’s no new The Leftovers this week. Good news, there’s this Jay Leo car special that “takes viewers into the heart of Monterey Week, America’s ultimate automotive event.” Oh wait, that’s more bad news.
